The name of my site is inspired by the words of the poem ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’, by the Irish poet, W.B. Yeats, a work that speaks of stillness, presence, and the quiet resonance of place. In my art, I seek a similar kind of pause — a moment where perception and feeling come together.

All my paintings and drawings are born from ‘an mothú’ — the Irish phrase for “the feeling” or “to become conscious of”. It is that spark when something, often quite ordinary, suddenly shifts into the extraordinary: low light drifting over a field, the brief glow of sun against a rock face, the shimmer of the ever-changing sea, even the stark outline of an unloved building. Sometimes blurred, sometimes sharp but always stirring, I try to capture that moment when the world says … stop, look and wonder.

My work is not about reproducing what I see, but about expressing what it awakens in me. Each brushstroke and line is my way of holding onto that brief encounter with beauty, magic, or simply the mystery of noticing. In the end, I paint because something caught my eye ..… and my heart followed.
